FSI launches a General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Toolkit
Dubai, UAE, 10 June, 2018: Under the new regulation of the European Union GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) which came into effect on 25th May 2018, FSI have developed a standalone application on the FSI Dreamscape platform called the GDPR Toolkit.
GDPR Toolkit is designed for use by client Data Protection Officers and will allow them to set up data retention policies, manage user GDPR requests, extract dates and anonymise data.
“Under the new regulations, individuals now have a range of new rights they can use to request visibility of the data that’s held on them, and in some cases, request extraction or anonymisation of their personal data,” explained Adrian Jarvis, director of FSI Middle East.
“As the region’s leading facilities management solutions software provider, FSI Middle East is committed to and actively working towards providing the tools to allow our users in the region to achieve compliance, we have tightened up data controls in key areas of FSI applications, including the latest 22.214.171.124. release of Concept Evolution and, where possible, put control of personal data and consent back in to the hands of the users, to not only view and manage contact details held about them, but also choose to opt out of email notifications,” added Jarvis.
The FSI applications will allow users to publish Privacy Policies regarding the retaining and processing of user data, and users will be asked to consent to these policies on sign up, first use, or any updates to the policies.
And any new mobile or desktop applications developed in FSI GO or Concept Advantage will use the principle of ‘privacy by design’.
- Defining the lawful base for retaining and processing personal data
- Setting retention periods for personal data
- Controlling GDPR actions permitted within the retention period, such as preventing anonymisation or extraction
- Managing user GDPR requests
- Customising content and format of extracted user data
- Anonymising personal data in data fields on request
- Setting up rules for automated anonymisation or deletion of data when outside of the lawful retention period
- Predefined templates for key data types
“The toolkit can manage personal data across the FSI applications, including Concept Evolution, Concept Connect, Concept Reach, FSI GO and Concept Advantage, and it is also backwards compatible for older versions of FSI products, thereby allowing users to start managing their data under GDPR policies, without needing to upgrade to the latest version of Concept,” concluded Jarvis.
